Mid-Cambridge email — sample
From: Craig Kelley [mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org]
Many of you probably know this already, and I'm not sure how, if at all, the change in ownership will impact the neighborhood, but I figured I'd pass it on.
Partners bought Youville, which is a key discharge destination for patients from MGH and Brigham who need follow-on care that isn't too intense.
Youville had been owned by a non-profit chain that was losing a lot of money and planned to close Youville. Partners, who will run Youville as part of the Spaulding network, will also lose money on it but the thought is that they'll lose less money than they would if patients backed up at the teaching hospitals.
What happens if their calculations are wrong and they don't not lose as much money as they thought (or, in better English, they lose more money than they had hoped)? I don't know, but it's something to think about.
Have a great weekend.
