License Commission — Qdoba
Beer and wine

Dear License Commission Members:

I write in support of Qdoba's request to serve beer and wine at its Porter Square site. As a regular customer both of this Qdoba and of other Porter Square shops such as Tags, Radio Shack and Porter Square Books, I think the ability to relax with a glass of wine or a beer while enjoying a fine Mexican meal would be a valuable amenity for the area. While the overall vitality of the area is strong, there have recently appeared some holes in the local retail fabric and the extra attraction generated by Qdoba's serving alcohol would be, I think, of service in plugging those holes.

Additionally, in my almost a decade's worth of being the Chair of the North Cambridge Stabilization Committee I cannot remember even one complaint of inappropriate behavior resulting from an establishment serving only beer and wine. Patrons enjoy their meal, have a beer or a glass or wine or two and then continue about their day. In this case, given the variety of shopping available nearby, having such a meal would be a welcome break from visiting Shaws, followed by the Burlington Coat Factory and then a trip over to CVS.

Again, I ask that you support this application.

Should you have any questions about this communication, please feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Craig Kelley
